motionChallenge
Aon's motionChallenge. Blocks fill a grid and your token needs to reach the exit. Slide the blocks out of the way — but every move counts, and the puzzle is scored on efficiency, not just completion. Six minutes to solve as many grids as you can.
switchChallenge
Aon's switchChallenge (scales sx). You're shown two rows of coloured symbols and a set of operators. Work out which operator transformed the first row into the second. Levels add a third row as you progress. Six minutes, and you answer as many as you can.
gridChallenge
Aon's gridChallenge. A dot lights up on a grid and you must hold its position — but between each dot you're interrupted by an unrelated puzzle to solve. At the end of the round you recall every dot, in order. Measures executive attention: memory under active interference.
Abstract Logic
Aon's abstract logical items — symbol-based reasoning with no language or arithmetic content, so the test is culture- and language-neutral. Widely used as a general reasoning screen early in graduate processes.
Checking & Instructions
scales e3+ — a checking test. You're given a set of rules and a stream of records, and you must decide whether each record complies. Simple in principle; the difficulty is holding several rules at once without drift.
Concentration
A sustained attention task. The individual judgements are easy; the test is whether your accuracy holds as the task becomes monotonous. Used where reliability over a long shift or a long document matters.
Deductive Logic (gap)
A matrix or table with a cell missing. The surrounding structure encodes rules across both rows and columns, and you must satisfy all of them at once to work out what belongs in the gap.
digitChallenge
Aon's digitChallenge. Rather than being asked to compute an answer, you're shown the answer and have to complete the missing figures in the calculation. Basic addition, subtraction and multiplication — but inverted, which is what makes it hard under time pressure.
Inductive Logic (cls)
scales cls — one of Aon's most used and least intuitive tests. Ten grids of letters and numbers are shown, and six have already been sorted into two groups. Deduce the rule that separates them, then classify the rest.
Inductive Reasoning
scales ix — a series of figures follows a rule, and one does not. Find the odd one out. The rules cover rotation, count, shading and position, and they change from item to item so no strategy carries over.
Language Skills
Aon's language testing — written English used in a professional context. Grammar and agreement, correct usage, and business vocabulary. Common for roles where written communication with clients or colleagues matters.
Logical Reasoning
scales lst — abstract logical thinking. You're given premises and asked what necessarily follows. No general knowledge is involved and no arithmetic; it is purely about holding a rule and applying it without slipping.
Mechanical & Technical
Mechanical and technical comprehension, used in Aon's engineering, manufacturing and technical-apprenticeship assessments. Gears, levers, pulleys, pressure, circuits and basic physics applied to practical situations.
Numerical Reasoning
scales numerical — Aon's flagship numerical test. Data is spread across several tabbed tables and charts, and the hard part is finding the right figure before you calculate. Around 37 items in 12 minutes: almost nobody finishes, and that is by design.
Spatial Reasoning
scales spr — cube folding. A flat net is shown with a symbol on each face; work out which of the folded cubes it makes. Every symbol has to land on the right face at the right rotation, so eyeballing it does not work. Used across Aon's engineering, technical and apprenticeship assessments.
Verbal Reasoning
scales verbal — statements judged against a body of text as true, false or cannot say. As with the numerical test, the information sits across several tabs and the challenge is locating the relevant passage before you judge the claim.
